Thangka Artist Talk by Tendar

Join us to learn about Tibetan Buddhist traditional Thangka painting from a 9th generation professional Tibetan Thangka artist Tendar

About Tendar:

My Name is Tenzin Dhargay, (phenpo Tendhar), professional in Thangka painting, born in Utsang province of Tibet. The phenpo renovation homes which was 9th generation of professionalize in Thangka painting and I am born in (yulna Khare Khangsar ) family. For 13 long years of guidance and practice under great artist my father late Jampal Wangchuk I got skilled in painting & coloring wood. At the age of 16 I had perfectly completed my studies on thangka. Also practically experienced different works in life manually and by theoretically.

Earlier, The Lhasa development committee collaborated with my late father and six great masters of thangka art in Tibet and myself had to renovate monasteries which destroyed , during cultural revolution I learned practically painting, wood coloring and Thangka.
After that, I move to India ( Dharamshala ) and enrolled in Tibetan library Thangka school to further extent my knowledge and I got my certificate of excellence.

At that time Dharamsala new project of Kalachakra temple at tsuklak-khang (Daramshala) offered to my uncle great artist late Rinzin Paljor and I got chance to work with him in that project . It was really great pleasure for me.

Later, I shifted to Nepal & opened Thangka painting school which is still running . Even though I am settled in( Canada )
at present still I use to visit Nepal frequently to inspect my Thangka school and continue my Thangka art.
