Lord Buddha’s first turning of the Dharma Wheel

Sutra Reading and Chanting the names of Manjushri in Nalanda Hall.

The Buddha gave his first teaching in Deer Park near Varanasi, 49 days after he displayed the deed of attaining enlightenment in Bodhgaya. The  Buddha’s First Turning of the Wheel of Dharma (Chökhor Düchen), is commemorated on the 4th day of the 6th month of the Tibetan calendar, which falls on 9 July this year. According to the Vinaya text “Treasure of Quotations and Logic”, all merit accumulated on this special day is multiplied 100 million times.
