Guru Puja Tsog

This practice is done twice a month on the Tibetan 10th and 25th (tsog days). It is the offering to the lama and the special devotional practice of the Gelugpa tradition. It includes a beautiful and poetic overview of the Graduated Path to Enlightenment. Participants get to take home some of the many offerings of food. We also offer tea and make special dedications during the puja.

Guru Puja is a practice of remembering and coming closer to our potential through connecting
with those who have already completed the path to Buddhahood. Buddhists believe our Dharma
Teachers (or Lamas/Spiritual Mentors), embody those qualities we ourselves wish to develop:
unbiased love and compassion as well as the ability to skillfully aid others. This practice includes
traditional chanting, visualization meditation, prayers in English and the practice of making
offerings. People new to or curious about Buddhism are welcome to sit and watch or participate –
please bring a food offering to share.
